Aging Well: Dr. Zoe’s Perfect Skin Guide

One thing we know for sure is that skin care and services have come a LONG way since the days our moms proclaimed that “aging gracefully” was the best way to go. While it is one thing to embrace aging, in this age of advanced skin science, the real heroic act is to save the skin we love by arming ourselves with powerful skincare and techniques. The earlier we take matters into our own hands, the better our skin will look as we age. We call it “aging well”. As key processes such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic production slow down in our 20s, we begin to notice fine lines and wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity. Your skin also loses its ability to exfoliate on its own. The good news is, challenging these processes from slowing down (or supplementing what our skin is lacking) is a powerful tool in prevention:

  • Use Quality Skincare Consistently: What is your skin telling you? Are you struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation, premature aging, and/or fine lines? If so, an active and scientifically-driven skincare lineup can really target these concerns. For help finding products specific to your skin’s needs, book a consultation or choose products based on your Skin Dreams, but most importantly be sure your lineup is simple and effective - the key is to stay consistent.
  • Incorporate collagen stimulating treatments: Treatments that stimulate collagen and elastin production include Microneedling (traditional and radiofrequency) and CO2 laser. These treatments trigger the body’s immune and wound response to stimulate an influx of collagen and elastin to the areas treated. Think of it as a wakeup call for your body’s collagen production alerting it that it's time to produce more in order to heal itself. These treatments lead you to have tighter, plumper, brighter, and more youthful skin. And although one treatment may give you the results you want, it is important to note that routine sessions are really key to maintaining those results.

  • Treat yourself to a sprinkle of Botox: Botox (done right!) is effective at treating resting lines and wrinkles, and is even better for preventing lines from etching into our skin in the first place. As we express ourselves with our facial movements, we create dynamic lines (lines that appear with movement) that make our expressions more noticeable. With repetition, those dynamic lines turn into static lines (lines that are present without movement). Small doses of Baby Botox helps to reduce the strength of muscles so that you can still express yourself with facial movements, but without the wrinkles. Your future self will thank you!

  • Botox

  • Retinol. Retinol. Retinol: Think of retinol as your superhero skin care ingredient. A great retinol not only smooths fine lines and wrinkles, but it also slows the aging process, prevents acne formation, gently exfoliates the skin, and improves cell turnover. Using a retinol formulated with TCA, like our Perfect Change Serum, as early as possible will greatly improve the overall quality of your skin, as well as giving it the durability it needs to remain youthful for as long as possible.
  • Use Sunscreen All Day, Every Day: Keeping your skin spot free means using SPF every day, all day. And I mean ALL DAY! Make it your ritual to apply sunscreen every morning, and don’t forget to reapply throughout the day. Grab yourself a physical cream sunscreen at least SPF 22 or higher to apply in the morning, and make reapplications easy by following up throughout the day with a physical (and chemical free!) powdered mineral sunscreen. My favorite is this Perfect Powder - I keep one in my purse to keep me protected all day!

  • IV Supplements to Support Internal Health: Your skin is a protective barrier that takes on the burden of its environment – even its internal environment. If your gut health isn’t functioning properly, you will notice abnormalities in your skin, diet, digestion, hormones, etc. Strengthen your internal health with a well-rounded diet, routine exercise, and vitamin supplementation. When we take vitamin supplements by mouth, we only absorb (and are able to use) about 15-20% of the vitamins, but IV therapy is an optimal way to deliver 100% of vitamins to your cells.

While the concept of ‘aging gracefully’ may come with the best of intentions, many clients confess that they wish they would have taken charge of maintaining their youthful glow a little earlier. So what are YOU waiting for? Follow these simple non-invasive steps now, and you will thank your beautiful self later.

    Glowing Together,
